Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk
“Alex, what is… Vienna?”
“Buonissimo! Il mio favorito biscotti.”
Tony Soprano
Next time you are playing Jeopardy be the first person to get the answer to this trick question: Where was cappuccino invented?
Cappuccino originated as a beverage in 19th century Viennese cafés. Of course it was the Italians who made it famous--before Starbucks got a hold of it and made it omnipresent.
George, who is Italian in spirit*, has done the Viennese, the Italians and Seattlites one better! He has created a cappuccino cookie using the amazing flavors of this popular beverage. Deep, rich espresso and creamy white chocolate chunks make this Cappuccino cookie delizioso.
*Update: George has been researching his family tree and recently found out that--on his mother’s side--many branches down the old family tree, he is related to a famous Florentine baking family. Alas, not banking family. Otherwise he’d be a Medici!

My Dearest George,
Back in the late 80’s, my friend and I were wandering through a mall, when we came across a bright red and white store that was getting ready to open its doors for the first time. We were intrigued (and starving college students, so you can see how easily we were drawn in), and before we knew it, we were hired as the “cookie twins” at the very first – and only – Cookies by George in the United States. The next few years were amazing. We lived the cookie dream. We met wonderful people, we made great friends, and we became forever addicted to Cookies by George. Since the store’s closing in the early 90’s, we have spent endless years looking for cookies that would even remotely compare to CBG’s cookies, but to no avail. As a Navy wife for the past 16 ½ years, I have traveled all over America, and I can safely say that NOBODY comes close to George.
And, so, I’d just like to say that I’m thrilled to see that George is still alive and kicking in Canada. I hope to see him cross the border and join us here in the US, once again. My time as a cookie elf at CBG is a memory that I will always cherish. I’ll never forget George – and not just because of the scars on my arm that I still have from the giant cookie sheet slipping out of the grip of my oven mitts…yeow! ☺
