There’s Frank Epperson’s accidental discovery of the popsicle. He mixed up a flavored drink, left the spoon in the glass but then left the container outside one winter’s day. It froze. Voila, an obviously lickable treat.

The Reverse® came about because George was watching his favorite soap while making a batch of cookies. He was distracted by Dr. Drake’s miraculous bedside manner and started pouring dark cocoa to the Classic mix. Turning off the Hobart (that’s Cookie Speak for ‘mixer’) he knocked a bunch of almonds into the batter.

At that point, he figured he’d already turned the Classic ‘inside out’ so why not just add white chocolate chunks? This happy mishap took place twenty-five years ago, and since then George’s Reverse cookie is often imitated, never replicated.
