Do you sell gift cards?

We do! We have gift cards with various designs available at all of our retail locations. The minimum gift card amount is $10.

I have a Cookies By George gift card. How do I check my balance?

You can check your gift card balance online using the Check Gift Card link at the bottom of each page.

If you are visiting one of our retail locations, you may also ask our staff to check your gift card balance for you.

What is "Club George"?

"Club George" is our customer loyalty program. When you purchase baked goods from any of our retail locations, you can receive a stamp on your Cookie Card for each cookie purchased (up to a maximum of 6 stamps per transaction). Once you receive 12 stamps, you are entitled to one free cookie. We also have Coffee Cards and Espresso Cards available at select locations. Each time you return to one of our stores, remember to show your Club George cards to collect more stamps!

Why a maximum of six stamps? Our current pricing structure already has an incentive for buying six or more through a price discount. Each store should have the stamping policy posted at the till. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our stamping policy or if the store you visited did not have the stamping policy posted, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Who makes your cookie dough and where?

We make our cookie dough in our production facilities at our head office in Edmonton, AB. All of our cookie dough is made from scratch (yes, by hand!) in small batch recipes—the same original recipes from 1983. We use only natural ingredients, high quality Belgian chocolate, and there are no preservatives in our cookies.

About Our Cookies

Are your cookies baked at the stores?

All of our locations bake their cookies fresh in store daily!

How come the cookie flavour I had before isn't on your cookie list?

We have a different feature cookie every month! If the cookie you wanted isn't available anymore, keep an eye out for when it returns, or sign up for our newsletter, the Cookie Sheet, and we will let you know what the cookie of the month is.

Different locations also have different flavours available on a regular basis. The Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk is available year-round in Vancouver, Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg. It is a feature cookie for Edmonton. George's Peanut Butter is a regular cookie for Edmonton, and is a feature cookie for all other cities. The M&M's® is a feature cookie for Vancouver.

How long do your cookies keep fresh?

When kept in a tightly sealed container, our cookies stay fresh for 3 to 7 days, but we suggest eating them sooner! Since our cookies do not contain any preservatives, it‘s best not to leave them out in the open for too long.

If you wish to keep your cookies for longer, you can put them in an airtight container and freeze them for up to approx. 6 months. Our cookies will thaw within 10-15 minutes at room temperature, or you can pop them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and they’ll be delicious!

Please do not refrigerate our cookies, as it will cause them to dry out and crumble easily.

Allergies

Do you have any gluten-free cookies?

George's Macaroon Chocolate Chunk is gluten-free! We make it with rice flour instead of wheat flour.

In an effort to reduce the risk of cross-contamination, our Macaroon cookie dough is produced on a separate day than other variations. All surfaces are sanitized prior to production. Our stores have been instructed to follow these guidelines: All Macaroon cookies must be scooped using a clean and sanitized cookie scoop, baked on a new silicon baking sheet, and served with new disposable gloves. The cookie tray should be positioned on the top shelf of the display case as well.

Despite all our precautions, we cannot 100% guarantee that our Macaroon cookies have not come in contact with gluten.

Do your cookies contain nuts?

Our cookies that contain nuts are: our Reverse Almond, Macadamia Nut, George's Peanut Butter, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk. Of our feature cookies, our Maple Walnut, Butter Pecan Chocolate Chunk, and George's Shortbread also contain nuts.

Please note that all of the cookies listed on this website are made and sold in facilities where nuts are used. Although we make every effort to segregate cookies with nuts and strive to prevent cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that any of our products are completely free of nuts or nut traces. Individuals with serious nut allergies should not consume our products.

I have a food restriction/allergy. Can I eat your cookies?

If you have a peanut or nut allergy, we do have a number of nut-free cookies. When you order an assortment of cookies, please tell our staff to omit any cookies with nuts or peanuts. As with our gluten-free cookie, we cannot guarantee that there has not been cross-contamination with other cookies with nuts.

If you have a different allergy, please refer to our cookies’ specific page for a list of ingredients and allergens, or call one of our locations directly.

We do not currently have any sugar-free cookies. Our only gluten-free and vegan cookie is our Macaroon.

Christmas Orders

Do you have any special items for the Christmas season?

When Christmas comes around, our gift tins also join the festivities with special seasonal designs! Designs can vary year to year, so please feel free to visit a store after mid-November and see what we have available this year.

What do I need to know to place an order for Christmas?

Once the weather starts getting a bit nippy, many of our customers get into holiday mode. Cookies By George's gift boxes or tins make a great holiday gift to give to family, friends, co-workers, clients, or anyone else that you can think of.

Place your order online. For large orders containing more than 10 gifts, please give us at least two weeks notice during the Christmas season. The more notice we have, the better we can accommodate you in terms of when you'd like to have your gifts delivered. Some of our delivery dates are filled up by late November.

Please make sure that the delivery information you give us is accurate. We cannot be held responsible for gifts not delivered due to incorrect addresses and contact information. Double check that your recipients aren't away on holidays or that businesses aren't closing early on your requested delivery date.

Does George Cater?

We sure do! Our Catering products are available for pickup from all locations.

At this time, we only offer catering delivery to downtown Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg. Place your order now! 

I want to order cookies for a wedding or corporate/public event. What options do I have?

On top of our gift boxes and tins, we also have individually wrapped cookies and cookies in bulk.

Individually wrapped cookies can come sealed with a label on top, or they can be tied using ribbon with an attached gift tag. We can personalize your order with a custom label or gift tag as well—please contact head office for more details and to place your order. 

I have a big order in mind. How do I go about ordering?

You may place your order via our online shop like any other order. If you have gifts going to various addresses, simply check off the “Send to multiple addresses” box before you click on checkout.

For orders with more than 10 gifts, you may also use our Large Order form located here. Your order request will be reviewed as soon as possible to ensure all we have all the necessary information for to arrange the pickup or delivery.

We recommend you place any large orders at least 1-2 weeks ahead of the delivery or pickup date. Please make sure that all delivery information and phone numbers are accurate. If we are experiencing high-volume periods, such as Christmas time and Valentine's Day, we may contact you to verify or reschedule your order.  If you'd like help with your order, we'd be happy to help and encourage you to contact us.

Is there a discount for large orders?

All of our cookies are made from scratch using high quality, natural ingredients and every cookie is hand scooped. For this reason we do not provide discounts for large orders.

Ordering

How do I add a gift message to my order?

During the first step of checkout, below “Special Instructions”, please select a gift tag. Once you have selected a tag, a text box will appear for you to enter your message!

Please note that the Pick-Me-Up Box does not include a gift tag and message. The box’s simple packaging, including its handle and tear-away flaps, is designed as a take-home box and is not well suited for gift wrapping. If you would like to add a gift tag and message to your order, please see our assortment of gift boxes and tins. Alternatively, you may request a To/From label for a Pick-Me-Up box to let your recipient know you sent them cookies.

How does the To/From label work?

Since the Pick-Me-Up box does not come with a gift tag, we have To/From labels available to let your recipient know who sent them cookies. To request a To/From label, simply fill in the "From (Optional)" box with your name during checkout and we'll take care of the rest! The label is added to the outside of the Pick-Me-Up box.

Please note that due to limited space, we will only include names on the To/From label.

Can I get an order confirmation or receipt?

For web orders, an order confirmation is sent out automatically after your order is successfully placed. This confirmation also doubles as the receipt. Please make sure you enter your email address correctly during checkout! If you have checked your email and cannot find the order confirmation, please feel free to call us at 1-866-743-6743 to see if your order went through or request a receipt.

For orders phoned in to a store, please contact the store you ordered with directly for any order confirmations and receipts.

Can I just phone in or visit a store?

Absolutely! We encourage you to visit one of our 11 locations as often as you can for cookies, pastries, coffee or to chat up our wonderful staff! We recommend you order online or call 1-866-743-6743 for deliveries to ensure we have all the correct information for a successful delivery. 

Can I make changes to an order or cancel an order I already placed?

If your order has not been sent out yet, absolutely! For web orders, please contact head office at 1-866-743-6743 or info@cookiesbygeorge.com with your order number and we can make the change for you. For phone orders, please call the store you placed the order with.

Can I order cookies for pickup from one of your locations?

Yes you can! All of our stores now offer online pickup, accessible here. You may also call any retail location directly to arrange a pickup.

If you do not know which store you'd like to pick up from, click here to see all locations or call our head office at 1-866-743-6743 and we will help you sort it out.

Can I order multiple gifts in the same order?

Absolutely! You can order multiple gifts to several addresses or several gifts to one address. Simply check off the “send to multiple addresses” box (above the checkout button) when viewing your cart.

Please note that depending on the size of your online order, we may need more time to process it. Read more about placing large orders.

Can I order something not listed on your website?

We have an assortment of unique cookie gifts and products available at various times throughout the year, including:

  • Cookies in bulk
  • Individually wrapped cookies, sealed or tied with ribbon (with optional custom labels or gift tags)
  • Coffee and tea
  • Loafers, tea biscuits, cakes, and bagels
  • Lunch boxes, cookie jars, cookie vases, and other unique cookie containers
  • Cookie wedding favours
  • Giant cookies (for pickup in Edmonton only)

We are currently unable to accommodate order additions such as cookiegrams, image/logo art on cookies, balloons and personal gifts. Personal cards can be delivered with your gift on a case-by-case basis, please contact us if you would like to arrange a drop off of a personal card.

We do not sell raw or frozen cookie dough.

Can I trust Cookies By George with my credit card and personal information?

Rest assured, we do not sell our customer information nor do we use it for unsolicited advertising and/or marketing. Read more about our privacy policies.

How do I track my order?

We do not provide delivery tracking on our website. For out-of-town orders, you may contact head office at info@cookiesbygeorge.com for a FedEx, Purolator or Canada Post tracking number.

Local orders do not have tracking numbers.

I have a specific request for my order. Can you accommodate it?

If your request is related to delivery, pickup or cookie flavours, please write it in the Special Instructions box during the first stage of checkout. If we cannot accommodate your request or if there would be additional charges for your request, we will contact you to let you know.

I’m having trouble ordering with your website. What do I do?

For problems with checkout, please make sure that all delivery, payment, and billing information is correct and that your postal code is valid. If a day is greyed out on the date calendar, we are unable to have your gift delivered or we are not available for pickup on that day. Our website does not accept debit cards or prepaid Visas.

If you would like help navigating the website or placing an order, please feel free to call our head office at 1-866-743-6743.

Please contact us if you believe you have found a bug or a glitch! We will do our best to fix things as soon as possible. On the rare occasion, our website may be temporarily down due to technical difficulties or maintenance. We ask for your understanding as we work to improve our website to offer more products and a better user experience.

Something went wrong with my order. Do I get a refund?

We will always do our very best to make sure that your gift is delivered on time and as you requested. There are rare occasions where a mistake is made or something out of our control delays the delivery of your gift. If an error does occur, we will always do our best to make things right with you.

Each concern is dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Since we do not guarantee the delivery date, we cannot guarantee a credit if there is a delivery delay. Please contact us either by phoning 1-866-743-6743 or emailing info@cookiesbygeorge.com to inform us of your concern.

What does Arrange Delivery mean?

If you check off the Arrange Delivery button, we will call your recipient to arrange a delivery date. If we cannot reach your recipient within a day or two of calling, we will contact you for an alternative contact method or for instructions on how to proceed.

If your gift is a surprise and you DO NOT want us to call your recipient, do not check off Arrange Delivery.

Please note that all deliveries to apartments and condominiums with security doors/barriers require us to call the recipient in advance. Exceptions can be made only if the building has a concierge available.

What does Leave At Door mean?

If you check off the Leave At Door button, our courier will leave the gift by the door after attempting a direct delivery first. Please note that for apartments and condominiums with security doors/barriers, we cannot leave gifts at the door due to a high risk of theft. We can only leave gifts with a concierge if there is one available.

Please use your discretion when choosing to leave gifts at the door. We cannot be held responsible for any gifts that are stolen after delivery.

Why are your delivery and pickup prices different?

Items in our Delivery section include local delivery charges. If your order has multiple items going to the same address, please order those items using our "send to single address" and specify all recipient names in the delivery information or special instructions. A multi-item discount will be automatically applied to your order to remove any excess shipping charges and bring your total to the correct amount.

Any additional charges for delivery to suburbs or out-of-town deliveries will account for the multi-item discount and show the appropriate shipping discount or charge after calculations.

As Pickup items do not require a delivery fee, their prices reflect the gifts’ original price.

Shipping

Can my delivery date be guaranteed?

We understand that for certain occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries, the delivery date is very important. We will do our best to make sure that your gift is delivered on the date you select, but we cannot guarantee an exact delivery date. Occasionally, conditions beyond our control may delay your delivery, such as bad weather or insufficient delivery information.

For that extra-important gift, consider sending it out a day earlier. We especially recommend this for Friday deliveries because our courier may not deliver on weekends, meaning that a delay would push delivery of your gift to the following Monday.

To reduce the risk of delay, please make sure that your delivery information is accurate and include anything that may be necessary for our courier: buzzer numbers, security restrictions, business hours, etc. You will be responsible for extra delivery charges due to additional delivery attempts.

Please make sure that we have your daytime contact information should we need to contact you.

Can you deliver on weekends or holidays?

We are able to make deliveries within Edmonton and Calgary on Saturdays. For web orders, please call or e-mail head office prior to placing your order. You may also call a store directly to phone in an order.

For holidays, certain locations will deliver on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day on a Sunday. We do not offer delivery on Canadian statutory holidays. Please note that since our out-of-town deliveries are overnight, we are not able to offer out-of-town delivery on the day following a statutory holiday. 

Can you deliver to hotels or hospitals?

We can deliver to hotel visitors and hospital patients but you must make sure that they will be there on the scheduled delivery date. If the recipient has checked out by the time your gift is delivered, we cannot be held responsible. 

For deliveries to hospitals, please note whether the delivery is going to a patient or staff member and include as much information as you can (building name, ward, room and floor number, department, etc.).

For deliveries to hotels, please note whether the delivery is going to a guest or staff and include as much information as you can (check-in and check-out dates, room number, if they are with a group or under a company name, etc.).

Can you deliver to PO Boxes?

If you only have a PO Box address, we will ship your gift through Canada Post. Please note that Canada Post may not inform them of the delivery. We do not offer a refund or redelivery for cookies which have not been picked up from the Post Office.  

For PO Box addresses in the US, we recommend providing a physical address for the recipient instead. All of our US shipments are made via FedEx, who must pass on PO box parcels to USPS to complete delivery. We cannot be held responsible for cookies mishandled or refused by USPS.

Do I get a delivery confirmation after my order has been delivered?

We do not send out delivery confirmations. If we encounter a problem that we cannot solve while delivering your order, we will contact you as soon as possible. Please make sure that you enter a phone number or email address that we can reach you at when you order.

How do I track my order?

We do not provide delivery tracking on our website. For out-of-town orders, you may contact head office at info@cookiesbygeorge.com for a FedEx, Purolator or Canada Post tracking number.

Local orders do not have tracking numbers.

How do you determine the delivery cost?

The delivery cost, determined by postal code, is based on what our courier charges us. Because our cookies are baked fresh and do not contain preservatives, we use the quickest shipping method available to make sure your cookies arrive as fresh as possible!

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery charges depend on the postal/zip code. Our local delivery charge is $14 and applies to postal codes in Edmonton & St. Albert, Calgary, Regina, and Winnipeg. This cost is already included in our gift prices. Vancouver requires an additional $1 charge.

For all other postal zones, additional delivery charges are calculated during checkout when you pick a delivery date. Leduc/Nisku and some Greater Vancouver areas have special discounted shipping rates which will also be shown at the same point in checkout.

How soon do you deliver/How long does delivery take?

For local shipping, cookies are shipped out and delivered on the same day.

Shipping is overnight for most out-of-town locations, and may take 2 or 3 days for the Maritimes, the Territories, and some rural locations. We require a lead time of at least 1 business day for all out-of-town locations. We do not ship out-of-town deliveries for Mondays.

All mainland USA deliveries are scheduled for overnight priority delivery. Please keep in mind that border delays may occur.

What does "Local Delivery" mean?

"Local delivery" refers to delivery in cities where there is a Cookies By George store. This includes the main city areas of Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, and Winnipeg. Vancouver is subject to an additional $1 charge. Suburbs of these cities may or may not be considered local delivery. 

All other cities or towns are considered out-of-town.

What if the recipient won’t be available during delivery hours?

For business addresses, the gift can be received by a coworker or a receptionist. The gift may also be left in care of a mailroom, receiving department, or security desk depending on the receiving policies of the delivery address.

For residential addresses, we can leave the gift at the door if no one answers the door. Alternatively, you may request that we call the recipient ahead of time to arrange the delivery.

For apartments and condominiums, gifts can only be left with a concierge.

If our courier is unable to deliver a gift, or they decide that it is not secure to leave the gift at the door, the gift will be held with our courier’s nearest depot or returned to a local store. If we do not have sufficient delivery instructions or if the recipient is not available to receive the gift, you will be responsible for any additional charges due to multiple delivery attempts.

When do you deliver the cookies?

Our typical delivery window is between 12PM to 5PM on weekdays for local deliveries. If you would like delivery during a specific time frame, you may write your request in “Special Instructions” and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Please note that for out-of-town deliveries, we cannot guarantee our courier will deliver within specific time windows.
